Colonial Heights Public Schools proudly announces Beth Christy as the Division Teacher of the Year for the 2024-2025 school year. With a rich educational background and an impressive dedication to her students, Ms. Christy has proven to be an invaluable asset to the school community.


Beth Christy earned her Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and her teaching certificate from the University of Virginia at Wise. Currently pursuing her Gifted Education certification from the University of Richmond, Ms. Christy exemplifies a commitment to continuous learning.


Having taught various subjects, including Business and Marketing, Computer Information Systems, Geometry, Algebra, and Math 8, Ms. Christy brings a diverse skill set to her role. She has served Colonial Heights Public Schools in various capacities since 2003 and taught for three years in Prince George Country Public Schools.


Ms. Christy's dedication extends beyond the classroom, as highlighted by her principal, Ms. Pelter. "Ms. Christy is always willing to lend a hand, both in and out of the classroom. She serves on the gifted advisory board, is the SCA sponsor, and plans various activities for the entire student body. She is a true team player, and we are thankful to have her on our team!"

Her unmatched dedication to student learning and overall welfare sets her apart, creating an environment where every student can thrive and succeed."


Colleague Krista Louks further emphasizes Ms. Christy's exceptional work ethic and commitment. "Beth Christy is an extremely hard worker who truly puts not only our children but everyone else first. She carefully crafts her lessons to present material in a fun and engaging way to ensure that learning takes place while positive memories are made."


In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Ms. Christy is actively involved in organizing school events, spirit weeks, pep rallies, 8th-grade dances, and more. She is often the first to arrive, volunteers for tutoring, and creates a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where students feel at home and encouraged to express themselves.


Beth Christy's positive influence on students and colleagues alike, her dedication to the school community, and her continuous pursuit of excellence make her a truly outstanding Division Teacher of the Year. Congratulations, Ms. Christy, on this well-deserved recognition!
